Inspiring a Generation
Planet Village
Working with Planet Village on a colourful series shining a light on 20 incredible people who have helped shape the world in the last 100 years. The project launched in September 2025 and is primarily an e-book.
The brief
Firstly, I was commissioned to design an e-book which would feature 20 illustrations of inspirational people from around the world. The commission for the actual illustrations came later.
What is the e-book about?
Part storybook, part workshop, part conversation-starter – this is a launchpad for big ideas, bold questions and eye-catching chats between parens, teachers and curious minds. Each character is brought to life through vibrant illustrations, empowering quotes and reflective portraits that ask: What can their journey teach me? What can I do with that inspiration?
My process
I thought that it would be a good idea to include quotes from each person. So I set about researching some of the most famous quotes from each and then settling on some which maybe weren’t so well known. Each quote was chosen so enable the reader to get an insight into what each person represented.
Here are some of of the illustrations as they appeared in the book along with their quotations.
Where you can purchase
You can purchase the e-book directly from Planet Village.
Even though this was only supposed to live in digital format, I was really keen on having a hard copy. So I took the liberty in printing a couple of hardbacks (one as a surprise for my client). He loved it so much that he decided to offer physical books to the public. You can purchase a copy on Amazon.
What the client said
“Kareen delivered exceptional artwork for our project, working efficiently and with organisation. She also delivered more value than we expected, which I found highly satisfying. Her engagement is evident in the project design and portraiture, both of which our clients love and appreciate. She worked diligently and met deadlines, which was crucial given our tight schedule. Her efforts were greatly appreciated, and I am very grateful that she was the person we chose.”
