Portraits of Diversity
Enfield Council
Enfield Council reached out to five local artists, to create art for pedestrian crossings throughout the borough. The brief given was to reflect Edmonton and the multi-cultural communities that live there. Coming from a print background, I knew that the design couldn’t be too complicated but wanted to get the ethnic diversity across in the illustration. Instead of using silhouettes, I created facial outlines that overlapped into patterns, resulting in blocks of vibrant colours that represent community spirit.
You can find the crossing outside Asda in Edmonton Green.

“I use this crossing every morning. I really like that it’s so vibrant.”
